The Job of My Life

“The Job of My Life” program is promoted by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and the German Federal Employment Agency (BA) to encourage the occupational mobility of young EU citizens in the European labour market.

By means of targeted incentives, EU citizens between the ages of 18 and 27 will be given the opportunity to move to Germany to undergo a dual vocational training program at a local company.

Selected candidates will have the opportunity to both study theoretical contents at a vocational school, and to put to practice what they learn working in a company.

Furthermore, selected candidates will also be given the opportunity to attain the level B1 (in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) of German. For this reason, applicants are not required to have a certain level of knowledge of German to participate in the program, even though it does represent an advantage.

In fact, in preparation for the vocational training in Germany, successful candidates will attend a language course in Italy. Moreover, they will be able to undertake an additional language course in Germany to improve their language skills while they work.

Depending on the individual career goals, the apprenticeship may last from 2 to 4 years. During this time, apprentices will receive a training allowance from their employer (the amount of which will depend on the professional sector). Finally, in completion of the vocational training, trainees will obtain a professional license qualifying them as “Skilled Workers”, a qualification that is recognized throughout Germany.
